In a very cold January, I traveled to Danny Meisinger’s studio in Kansas to immerse myself in Danny’s studio practice. To learn from Danny, all one must do is watch the way he moves his hands - the clay comes alive with each gesture, and the intention of each movement is evident in the outcome. The gentle curve of a spout, the grace of the negative space between vessel and handle - understanding how to see, the patience of practice, and knowing that subtle refinement is what elevates a form, is the takeaway from learning with Danny. Whether you’re looking to make a masterfully balanced teabowl, a mug with just the right handle, or a pitcher that pours well and seems to flow in and of itself - this is the workshop for you.
