Service Description
This course is designed to make the process of sculpture-making accessible. The fundamentals of building forms off the wheel will be covered, including methods using pinch, coil, slab, and bisque molds. In addition to covering the technical practices required to build with clay, conversation about form, line, and volume will benefit our practice as we learn to hone our eye to define and refine the aesthetic of our work and merge form and function. While it is always a fantastic start to bring your creative vision to class on day one, inspiration will be offered through examples of Brian’s work and also fostered through a collaborative class dynamic. The wonderful thing about hand-building is that there are no limitations, and Brian’s depth of knowledge will allow support on the path you choose. The end goal of this class is to give students the skills to approach any form with confidence and curiosity.
